Taking a day trip to Agadir from Marrakech is a great idea if you want to escape the madness of Marrakech and enjoy a more peaceful and more beautiful location for a day.
Although there is so much to do in Marrakech, it can be a stifling and overwhelming city. Agadir, on the other hand, is a gorgeous beach resort town, famous for its golden beaches and has plenty of unmissable things to do.
Having visited both places, I’m the ideal blogger to inform you of what to expect when travelling to Agadir from Marrakech.
That’s why I’ve put together this post, in which I share my experience of Agadir, give top tips on how to get there, where to stay, the best things to do and more.

Things To Do On A Day Trip To Agadir From Marrakech
So let’s take a look at what I believe to be the most unmissable things to do on a day trip to Agadir from Marrakech:
Beautiful Agadir Beach
Without a doubt, the best thing to do in Agadir is to visit its beautiful beach! Considered to be one the best beaches in Morocco, Agadir Beach stretches for 10 kilometres and consists of gorgeous golden sands.
It is the ideal beach for those who want to sunbathe and soak up the rays for an afternoon or more.
You’ll find several areas on the beach that have sunbeds, which are reserved for guests staying at the main beach hotels situated next to the beach.
There are also several excellent restaurants situated along the promenade next to the beach, offering mostly Moroccan meals – but there’s also a McDonalds if your kids are missing home!
I visited Agadir Beach several times during my stay there and loved it! It’s a glorious beach and Agadir enjoys lovely sunshine and warm temperatures throughout the year.
I was there during the Christmas holidays and enjoyed temperatures ranging from 20 to 28 degrees Celsius.
👉 Pro Tip: If you want to go surfing while visiting Agadir, make sure you head to Taghazout Beach. Located 16 kilometres north of Agadir, this beach is very popular with surfers.
Visit Morocco’s Largest Souk Market
If you enjoyed visiting some of Marrakech’s lively souk markets, then you’ll also want to visit Agadir’s incredible Souk El Had.
Just a short 10-15 minute taxi ride away from the main beach resort area, Souk El Had is the largest souk market in all of Morocco and is, quite frankly, unmissable.
I visited Souk El Had on Christmas Day and loved my time there! It can be an overwhelming but fun experience, with countless stalls selling everything from clothes, food, jewellery, spices, ceramics and more.

The stall owners are very nice and friendly and the market is very safe. I recommend giving yourself up to 2 hours at the market to explore everything that it has to offer.
Enjoy a family day at Croco Parc
If however, you’re travelling to Agadir with a family and possibly young kids, then Croco Parc is a top choice – it is the only crocodile zoo in all of Morocco.
The park is home to over three hundred crocodiles and also features a delightful botanical garden.
Croco Parc is situated over 13 kilometres away from Agadir’s beach resort area, so the best way to get there is to catch a taxi, which usually takes around 20 minutes.
Climb up to the Kasbah of Agadir
If you’re more interested in historical sites, then a visit to the Kasbah of Agadir (which goes by the name of ‘Oufella’) is a must when visiting Agadir.
Based at the top of the hillside that dominates Agadir’s coastline, the Kasbah of Agadir is an ancient fortress that housed the old city of Agadir before it was destroyed in the 1960 earthquake that affected the area.
You can still find plenty of remnants from the ancient past here, however, and the views of Agadir’s coastline are stunning.
There’s a fun option for reaching the Kasbah – you can catch Agadir’s very own cable car (the only one in Morocco), which lasts for several minutes starting from near Tildi Bridge.

How To Get To Agadir From Marrakech
So how exactly can you get to Agadir from Marrakech? Here are all the options you have available:
By Bus 🚌
Easily the cheapest option when travelling between both destinations, catching a bus only costs around £10-£13, which is ideal if you’re on a budget.
However, the bus ride is the slowest option available, taking anywhere from 2 to 5 hours. The bus coaches are spacious and comfortable, with AC available.
👉 Pro Tip: If you do plan on catching a bus from Marrakech to Agadir, then I highly recommend using Book Away. In my opinion, this is the best website to find cheap bus and train deals when you’re travelling.
By Private Transfer 🚙
If you want a more stress-free option, then I recommend booking a private transfer in advance. Most private transfers will pick you up directly from your hotel in Marrakech, which is very convenient.
It’s worth noting that this might not be possible if you’re you’re staying in the Medina in Marrakech. In this case, you can meet your driver at an agreed-upon location as close as possible to your hotel.
Although this sounds like a great option, a private transfer is expensive – expect to pay between £100-£200 or more depending on the size of your group.

By Car 🚗
Of course, you can choose to hire a car for your Moroccan adventure, and it is relatively safe to do so. Keep in mind that the traffic will most likely be quite bad when driving out of Marrakech, but otherwise, this is a good option to consider.

By Taxi 🚕
And finally, you can decide to choose a taxi to travel from Marrakech to Agadir. The cost will be about the same as a private transfer (between £100 to £200), but probably less comfortable.
You may be able to get a cheaper price by going via a shared taxi with strangers. Although this is a less expensive option you’ll be sharing the ride with strangers, possibly with locals who do not speak English.
That doesn’t sound ideal, but I’m sure it would be a memorable experience!

Best Places To Stay In Agadir
Of course, you may decide that a day trip is not enough time in Agadir, which is completely understandable if you want to relax on the beach and sunbathe for a few days.
So, here are my recommendations for three excellent places to stay in Agadir, that have three different price ranges:
Budget Recommendation: Dinosaur Anza Surf House
Hotels in Agadir (especially the family resorts) can be quite expensive, but if you’re on a tight budget then I recommend staying at Dinosaur Anza Surf House.
This 4-star hotel has a range of room options, from mixed dormitories to private rooms, all at very competitive prices.
The Surf House is situated close to the beach and has stunning sea views from its sun terrace. It also has yoga classes available, free parking, a 24-hour front desk and a family-friendly restaurant.

Mid-Range Recommendation: Agadir Beach Club Hotel
This is the hotel where I stayed during my Christmas holiday in Agadir, so this recommendation comes from my own first-hand experience!
Agadir Beach Club is a large 4-star hotel situated close to the seafront of Agadir, just a short 1-minute walk from the beach. I was very impressed with the size of the hotel: it has several outstanding restaurants and a large swimming pool.
I stayed in a double room which was spacious and had a lovely balcony view overlooking the swimming pool area. I had a few minor complaints about my stay at the hotel; the Wi-Fi was unreliable and the service could have been better.

Luxury Recommendation: Dominium Palace
If you’re in the mood for a more luxurious stay in Agadir, then Dominium Palace is an outstanding choice.
This 5-star hotel is situated right next to the beach and has exceptional facilities, including two restaurants, an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness room and more.
Guests recommend a stay here because of the friendly staff, comfortable rooms and exquisite decor.

Is one day enough to visit Agadir?
It is possible to visit Agadir in one day from Marrakech and have enough time to chill on the beach at least.
In my opinion, one day is not enough time to fully appreciate the place and do several of the unmissable things that I have recommended in this blog post.
I recommend spending at least 3-4 days in Agadir to relax on the beach and visit some of the must-see places. If you’re limited on time, then 2 days is a good option too.
Is there a train from Marraksh to Agadir?
No, there isn’t a direct train that goes from Marrakech to Agadir. If you’re relying on public transport when visiting these two cities, then your only option is to catch a bus, which takes 3 hours and 30 minutes but is cheap (£10-£13).
How far is Agadir from Marrakech?
Agadir is approximately 120 miles (193 kilometres) from Marrakech, which is worth remembering if you’re planning a day trip to the beach resort.
